Here are the beat assignments, based on rank-ordered preference lists turned in today. Everyone who turned in a list got an assignment from their top five. We’ll draw lots on Wednesday to determine the order for class presentations.

CM Life reporter Frank Eslinger is seeking students and faculty to be sources for a story on campus use of Twitter. If you use Twitter yourself or know someone who does, Frank asks that you pass contact information along to him at 586-904-0180, or eslin1fr@cmich.edu. Frank’s deadline is Monday. He can’t use CM Life staffers as sources.

Please remember to bring your rank-ordered list of beats with you to class on Friday. Please rank-order your preferences all the way through the list, starting with 1 for the beat you’d most like to cover.
I’ll make the beat assignments over the weekend and post them on the blog. When we meet again next Wednesday, we’ll do the lottery for the order of beat presentations to the class.
I’d also like to call your attention to the fact that civil rights leader Julian Bond is the keynote speaker for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Week next Wednesday. He speaks at 7 p.m. in Plachta Auditorium.
This is not a class assignment — just a reminder that he is one of the leading civil rights figures of our time, and you don’t get a chance to hear someone of that stature every day.
The event is open free to the public.

Bay City intern interviews scheduled Jan. 26
Posted by palen1ja under Internship and job opportunitiesLeave a Comment
Rob Clark of The Bay City Times will be on campus Monday, Jan. 26, to interview candidates for an internship.
There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board across from Moore 409.
This is a good internship opportunity, particularly if you have had a previous internship.
You should bring work samples to the interview. Contact Jim Wojcik with further questions.
